On August 15th 2009 we opened up two sewing centres for the eleven women who have graduated from the almost three year vocational training and general education program provided by Sambhali Trust. These women needed ongoing employment.
A professional Business Plan outlined the funding, establishment, and sustainability of two sewing centers in Jodhpur which employ the graduated women, one branch in Raika Bagh, the other in Prithvipura. This was also realized in August 2009, the two sewing centers were established and are starting to run good. Sambhali Trust funds the two centres for one year with paying their rents, electricity etc.
This Plan also outlines the establishment of a shop near the clock tower market doing business as Sambhali Boutique which will sell items to tourists produced by the sewing centers.
All the profits from the sewing centers will be shared by the women in the centers and 80 % of the profits from the Sambhali Boutique go to the women, while 20 % will be donated back to Sambhali Trust to be used to further its mission.
Go to the Sambhali Boutique online shop here. Read more about the opening of the sewing centres here and about their first foreign order here.
Any further news and information about the graduates and their sewing centers you will find in the Chronicle.
